The 2014 International Summit of Cooperatives: promoting the cooperative movement!
In 2012, during the International Year of Cooperatives, as declared by the United Nations, the International Summit of Cooperatives has persuasively and relevantly showcased “the Amazing Power of Cooperatives”. The first edition of the Summit was a landmark event that will eventually become a must for today's and tomorrow's leaders intent on strengthening the influence that the cooperative and mutualist movement has on the socioeconomic and political world stage.
The 2012 International Summit of Cooperatives was an ideal place to create world class strategic alliances, to assess the main international trends in development as well as to get an insight on the overall vision of the global cooperative movement and the opportunities it presents.
In short, the 2012 Summit has helped to establish a network between cooperatives and mutuals from around the world in order to create a sphere of influence throughout the economic and political environments.
With the Summit's importance, strong participation and reputation, this event can be considered as an influential role on the economic, political and regulatory world stages. Based on these facts, the Desjardins Group, with the support of the International Co-operative Alliance (ICA), confirms the return of the International Summit of Cooperatives in 2014.
